News Daniel Radcliffe Will Appear at The Shubert Foundation and MTI's New York Student Celebration Daniel Radcliffe, star of the Tony-nominated How to Succeed in Business without Really Trying, will serve as master of ceremonies as hundreds of students from middle and intermediate New York City public schools "succeed" in their Broadway debut at The Shubert Foundation/MTI Broadway JR. Student Celebration at the Majestic Theatre June 6.

Beginning at 10:30 AM,  students from schools in Brooklyn, the Bronx, Queens and Manhattan will perform a song from their production of a student version of a classic musical on the Broadway stage. 

The special Broadway performance, produced by iTheatrics, is the year-end culminating celebration of the Shubert Foundation/MTI Broadway JR. Program, a musical theatre mentorship program that builds self-sustaining theatre programs in public schools with limited arts programming, and is sponsored by The Shubert Foundation, The New York City Department of Education and Music Theatre International.

The program aims to engage as many students as possible in all aspects and areas of the arts. Any New York City middle and intermediate public school without an existing musical theatre program may apply for this grant.

Aside from the selection presented on Broadway, schools will also perform their full musical in their community.

Performances will include "Why We Tell the Story" from Once on this Island JR. by Edward Bleeker JHS 185 in Flushing; “Pray” from Once on this Island JR. by Young Women's Leadership School in Brooklyn; "Hard-Knock Life" from Annie JR. by Renaissance School of the Arts in Manhattan; “Waiting for Life” from Once on this Island JR. by PS/IS 323 in Brooklyn; "Zip-A-Dee- Doo-Dah" from Disney’s Alice in Wonderland JR. by JHS 080 The Mosholu Parkway in the Bronx; "Prince Ali" from Disney’s Aladdin JR. by PS 226 Alfred De B.Mason in Brooklyn; “What Time is It?” from Disney’s High School Musical 2 by PS 241 Family Academy in Manhattan; “Hard-Knock Life" from Annie JR. by IS 068 Isaac Bildersee in Brooklyn; "Prince Ali" from Disney’s Aladdin JR by MS 072 Catherine and Count Basie in Jamaica; “Guys and Dolls” from Guys and Dolls JR. by MS 442 New Horizons School in Brooklyn; "Friend Like Me" from Disney’s Aladdin JR. by PS/MS 004 Crotona Park West in the Bronx; “Oh the Thinks You Can Think" from Seussical JR. by PS 111 Adolph S. Ochs in Manhattan; the “Finale” from Into the Woods JR. by MS 322 The Renaissance Leadership Academy in Washington Heights; “We Dance” from Once on this Island JR. by MS 057 Ron Brown Academy in Brooklyn; and "Start of Something New" from Disney’s High School Musical JR. by The Bronx School of Science Inquiry and Investigation in the Bronx.
