Danielle Brooks, who earned a Tony Award nomination for her Broadway debut as Sofia in The Color Purple, will return to the New York stage this summer in Much Ado About Nothing. She’ll take on the role of Beatrice in the comedy, according to Variety, as part of the Public Theater’s upcoming Shakespeare in the Park season.

As previously reported, the production, helmed by Kenny Leon, will kick off the 2019 lineup at the Delacorte Theater in Central Park, running May 21 through June 23.

Brooks is perhaps best known for her portrayal of Tasha "Taystee" Jefferson on Netflix's Orange Is the New Black. She is represented on Broadway this season not as a performer, but as a producer, as part of the team on Ain't Too Proud — The Life and Times of the Temptations.

The Shakespeare in the Park season also includes Coriolanus and a Public Works presentation of a new stage adaptation of Disney’s Hercules.
