News Danny Johnson and Demetria McKinney Will Scale The Mountaintop in Atlanta Jasmine Guy will direct the Atlanta regional premiere of Katori Hall's Olivier Award-winning play The Mountaintop, which imagines an encounter between Martin Luther King Jr. and a mysterious woman on the Civil Rights leader's final night on earth. The play will begin performances Nov. 13 at the True Colors Theatre Company.

The True Colors Theatre Company is led by artistic director Kenny Leon. The Tony-nominated director staged the Broadway production of The Mountaintop last season with Angela Bassett and Samuel L. Jackson.

Guy, who works with True Colors regularly as an actress and director, will stage the two-hander that officially opens Nov. 16 for a run through Dec. 16.

The Mountaintop will star Danny Johnson (Song of Jacob Zulu, Our Lady of 121st Street) as Martin Luther King Jr. and Demetria McKinney ("Tyler Perry's House of Payne") as Camae.

According to True Colors, "The gripping re-imagining of events the night before the assassination of civil rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. After delivering one of his most memorable speeches, an exhausted Dr. King retires to his room at the Lorraine Motel while a storm rages outside. When a mysterious stranger arrives with some surprising news, King is forced to confront his destiny and his legacy to his people."
