Theatre favorite Daphne Rubin-Vega will be honored by the All Stars Project, a New York City youth development non-profit, at the organization's benefit on April 16. Entitled Women Who Care About All Children, the evening will begin at 6 PM at the New York State Theater at Lincoln Center.

Before Rubin-Vega became a Broadway star, she acted at the All Stars' Castillo Theatre. According to press notes, "Today, she is a valued member of the All Stars community where she continues to prioritize giving back, hosting All Stars events and inviting the inner city young people from the All Stars' programs to her Broadway shows and backstage chats with herself and her co-stars." Rubin-Vega is currently starring in the LAByrinth's production of Jack Goes Boating at the Public Theater. She appeared on Broadway in the current revival of Les Miserables, and earned Tony Award nominations for her performances in the Pulitzer Prize-winning shows Anna in the Tropics and Rent. Rubin-Vega also appeared in Broadway's The Rocky Horror Show, and her Off-Broadway credits include Everythings Turning Into Beautiful, Bernarda Alba, Fucking A, Gum and Two Sisters and a Piano. On screen she has been seen in "Wild Things," "Flawless" and "Skeleton Woman." Her solo recordings are titled "Rocket Man" and "Redemption Songs."

The four other women being honored at the gala are educator and philanthropist Lindra Andryc; national leader in volunteerism, Gail Elberg; youth mentor and educator, Tammye Jones; and philanthropist, Nancy Taylor.

According to press notes, "The All Stars Project, now in its 26th year, partners with the private sector — philanthropists and foundations — to bring outside of school educational opportunities to thousands of inner city youth in New York City and Newark, New Jersey. Its youth programs, which employ a performance-based approach to development, include the All Stars Talent Show Network, the Joseph A.
