Classic Arts News Dave Holland, Don Byron Albums Debut on Billboard Jazz Chart Much-anticipated new albums from the Dave Holland Big Band and clarinetist Don Byron made their first appearances on the Billboard jazz chart this week at numbers nine and 19.
The Holland Big Band's Overtime is the second album from the bassist's extended ensemble; the first, What Goes Around, won the Grammy Award for Best Large Jazz Ensemble Album in 2002. The personnel includes Holland's core group (saxophonist Chris Potter, trombonist Robin Eubanks, vibraphonist Steve Nelson, and drummer Billy Kilson) as well as saxophonist Antonio Hart and others.

Byron's Ivey-Divey explores music originally played by the great tenor saxophonist Lester Young and the trio he formed with pianist Nat "King" Cole and drummer Buddy Rich in the mid 1940s. Byron plays clarinet and saxophones; veteran drummer Jack DeJohnette and young pianist Jason Moran complete the group.

The top of the chart remained the same, with singer Michael Bubl_'s It's Time at number one for the third week, followed by trumpeter Chris Botti's When I Fall in Love and singer Madeleine Peyroux's Careless Love.

On the contemporary jazz chart, Kenny G's At Last... The Duets Album remained at number one for the 12th week. Guitarist Chuck Loeb's When I'm With You debuted at number six.
