News Dave Malloy's Preludes Celebrates Release of Cast Album Lincoln Center Theater's LCT3 production of Preludes, the musical by Dave Malloy, developed with and directed by Rachel Chavkin, was released by Ghostlight Records in digital and CD formats Jan. 8. The cast and creators held a release party Jan. 19.

The album is produced by Dean Sharenow.

The world-premiere production opened June 15, 2015, starring Tony winners Nikki M. James (The Book of Mormon) and Gabriel Ebert (Matilda, Thérèse Raquin), who can be heard on the cast album. Preludes played through July 19 at Lincoln Center's Claire Tow Theater.

Dave Malloy's Preludes Celebrates Release of Cast Album


From the creators of the acclaimed Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812, the show is inspired by the music of Sergei Rachmaninov. The story follows the Russian composer's struggle to overcome writer's block following a disastrous first premiere. Played by Ebert, the young Rachmaninov begins daily sessions with a hypnotist.

The CD also features original cast member Eisa Davis (Passing Strange), Joseph Keckler (I am an Opera) and Chris Sarandon (Cyrano De Bergerac) as well as Or Matias on the piano.
