This past spring, the Public Theater hosted the #BARS Workshop “for the Rapper who wants to step into theatre, or Actor who wants to incorporate rap into their wheelhouse.” Created by poet-rapper-playwright Rafael Casal and Tony-winning actor and rapper Daveed Diggs, the Workshop posted a #BARS Mixtape Musical Medley in June as a culmination of the first lab series.
Now, the pair have released #BARS Medley Volume 2, the product of the second lab series that ran July-September.
The performance was filmed live at the Public as a showcase of the participants' work. (Participants were chosen through a formal application process.)
No announcement has been made regarding future sessions of the #BARS Workshop.
