Deborah Harkness' novel centers on a woman who uncovers a manuscript with the secrets to immortality. In addition to her own familial ties to the witches of Salem, she finds herself in the company of a centuries-old vampire as the two attempt to stop a war between witches, demons and vampires over the book.

The book is part of a planned trilogy. Denise Di Novi and Alison Greenspan will produce the film. A director is being sought.

Auburn's latest play, The Columnist, about real-life Washington columnist Joseph Aslop, will arrive on Broadway in April under the wings of Manhattan Theatre Club. Tony Award winner John Lithgow will star. MTC also produced Auburn's acclaimed drama Proof.

His plays also include An Upset and Amateurs and The Journals of Mihail Sebastian. He wrote and directed the film "The Girl in the Park," as well as the screenplay to "The Lakehouse."
