Angels in America, Part One - Millennium Approaches and Part Two - Perestroika run in rotating repertory through March 29 on the Copaken Stage.

In addition to Elder as Joe Pitt, the cast also includes Jessiee Datino as Harper Pitt, Jennifer Engstrom as The Angel, Peggy Friesen as Hannah Pitt, Nik Kourtis as Louis Ironson, Seamus Mulcahy as Prior Walter, Mark Robbins as Roy M. Cohn and Paul Oakley Stovall as Belize.

The productions were originally announced to be directed by Gary Griffin, who withdrew from the KC Rep engagement due to the Broadway production of Honeymoon in Vegas.

"Since 2009, KC Rep has been an artistic home for me, and my experiences with The Glass Menagerie and Our Town were deeply satisfying," Cromer said in a previous statement. "The unexpected opportunity to direct one of the best plays of the last century in a full, rotating repertory production was too exciting to pass up. And to return to a play I first directed shortly after its New York premiere 17 years later will show that Angels has become a true American classic." "Angels in America, which transformed the landscape of American theatre when it premiered in 1991, is a riveting, thought-provoking masterpiece about sexuality, identity, religion, and American’s history and future, set in the AIDS crisis of the late 1980s. Then, as now, Angels in America explores the social, political and moral issues confronting us as individuals and as a nation, and Kushner's play rightfully claims its place as an masterpiece of 20th century theatre," according to KC Rep.
