He may not have won a Tony Award, but, as the composer of The Full Monty, David Yazbek is still a rising theatre composer — and evidently has a popular following. Yazbek played a date the Public Theatre cabaret space last fall, just as Monty was opening. Now, he will return for a second engagement, at 8 PM on July 16. The performance comes just a few days after the release of Yazbek's rock band's third album, "Damascus." The Full Monty was nominated for ten Tony Awards, but came away empty-handed, losing in every category to The Producers. Yazbek did, however, win a Drama Desk Award for best score.
