Cambridge, Massachusetts' American Repertory Theatre has named Dayron J. Miles as its new associate artistic director. Miles joins a leadership team led by Artistic Director Diane Paulus.
The move is a promotion for Miles, who joined the company in 2019 as senior advisor for civic engagement and strategic partnerships. Miles has been part of the planning efforts for A.R.T.'s future home in Harvard's Allston campus. The new home is envisioned as a town hall for the 21st century, with spaces for research, experiential pedagogy, and performance.
"I’m absolutely honored to expand my artistic partnership with Diane at the A.R.T. and continue the momentum toward our new building and the next chapter of this great institution," says Miles in a statement. "Our new home in Allston is an exciting opportunity to center community, not only in our organizational structure and artistic practice, but also in our physical space. In the coming years, A.R.T. will continue to expand the boundaries of theatre as an artform and practice, and also as an event and destination. I’m so thrilled to continue partnering with Diane and collaborating with Kelvin on achieving their shared vision of what A.R.T. can and should be."
Before A.R.T., Miles was founding director of Public Works Dallas, serving as executive producer for its productions. He's also a former associate of Kenny Leon at Alliance Theatre and True Colors Theatre Company.
