News Daytime Emmy Award Nominations Announced; Williams to Host Tony-nominated actress Vanessa Williams will host the 36th annual Daytime Emmy Awards, which will be presented in Los Angeles Aug. 30.

The "Ugly Betty" star and veteran of Broadway's Into the Woods and Kiss of the Spider Woman will host the event at the Orpheum Theatre. The CW Television Network will broadcast the event. John Tartaglia's "Johnny and the Sprites" was among the nominated shows for Outstanding Pre-School Children's Series, and also earned nominations for Outstanding Directing in a Children's Series, Outstanding Achievement in Art Direction and Outstanding Achievement in Single Camera Photography. Tartaglia — of Avenue Q fame — is currently on Broadway in the Tony-nominated Shrek the Musical.

Former Beauty and the Beast star Jacob Young received an Outstanding Featured Actor in a Drama nomination for his work on "All My Children." Both Joan Rivers (for "Arthur") and Vanessa Williams (for "Mama Mirabelle's Home Movies") were Emmy-nominated for Outstanding Performing in an Animated Program. "Sesame Street" puppeteer Martin P. Robinson, of the Broadway revival of Little Shop of Horrors, was nominated for Outstanding Performer in a Children's Series.

Whoopi Goldberg and her co-hosts of "The View" received an Outstanding Talk Show Host nomination, and the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade and the Walt Disney World Christmas Day Parade earned nominations for Outstanding Special Class Special.
