News D.C.'s Signature Adds One Week to Assassins Run; First Five Weeks and All Saturdays Are Sold Out "It's a Hit!" is a song from Stephen Sondheim's Merrily We Roll Along, but its sentiment applies to the Signature Theatre popular new revival of Sondheim's Assassins in Arlington: Following the May 30 first preview, artistic director Eric Schaeffer announced a one-week extension of the musical.

The show is already sold out through July 2. All Saturday performances in the run are also sold out.

"Due to the high volume of advance sales, the extension week was added prior to the show’s [June 5] opening," according to Signature.

Assassins will now play through July 23 at Signature Theatre, 3806 S. Four Mile Run Dr., Arlington, VA.

Tickets for the newly added extension week go on sale June 1 through Tickets.com at (800) 955-5566 and online at www.signature-theatre.org.

"Assassins provides a darkly-comic, captivating look at the lives, loves, and lunacy of nine infamous American assassins — from John Wilkes Booth to Lee Harvey Oswald to John Hinckley Jr. — who attempted, successfully or not, to take the lives of American Presidents," according to Signature. "One of the most innovative musicals in years, [its] score ranges from folk to ragtime to big Broadway ballads…" Joe Calarco directs. For more information, visit www.signature-theatre.org.
