News De Shields Is Black By Popular Demand Feb. 7 and 14 André De Shields, the Tony-nominated actor most recently on Broadway in the short-lived Prymate, will bring his R&B revue to Joe's Pub Feb. 7 and 14.

Entitled Black By Popular Demand, the evenings feature musical direction by Joel Silberman and back-up vocalists Freida Williams and Marléne Danielle. The concerts mark De Shields' first cabaret appearance in more than 20 years; show time is 9:30 PM.

Nominated for a Tony Award for his performance in the Broadway production of The Full Monty, Andre De Shields re-created his role as Noah "Horse" T. Simmons for the London production. He received another Tony nomination for his performance in Play On! and also starred on Broadway in The Wiz, Ain't Misbehavin' and Haarlem Nocturne.

Tickets, priced at $25, are available at The Public Theater box office or by calling (212) 239-6200. Joe's Pub is located within the Public Theater at 425 Lafayette Avenue.
