Dean Mary Schmidt Campbell of the Tisch School will present the first Tisch Awards to the producer and cast members of the Off-Broadway hit, The Bomb-itty of Errors on May 4 at 3:30 PM in the Dean's Conference Room at Tisch.

As reported earlier, for the first time in the school's 35-year history, the Tisch School of the Arts has created an award to recognize the achievements of its outstanding alumni. The recipients of the first Tisch Award will be the cast and authors of the Off-Broadway hit, The Bomb itty of Errors, and the show's producer, Daryl Roth (Wit, De La Guarda, Three Tall Women).

Bomb-itty is adapted from Shakespeare's The Comedy of Errors. The show has been favorably reviewed and remains popular with audiences by simultaneously appealing to them on three levels -- as an adaptation, as a musical and as a comedy.

The creative credit for Bomb-itty is shared by the entire cast. Originally an NYU Theatre Wing project, Bomb-itty was initiated by GQ (his stage name), who then collaborated with his brother, J.A.Q. (ditto), who wrote the score and plays "MC" in the show. The remainder of the cast, Jordan-Allen Dutton, Jason Catalano and Erik Weiner are all graduates of New York University's Tisch School of the Arts and collaborated on the writing of the show.

The cast and authors will be recognized for "artistic leadership, theatrical ingenuity and creative achievement," while the producer will be recognized for "innovative producing." Attending the awards presentation will be the president of NYU, Dr. L. Jay Oliva, drama department chair Una Chaudhuri, drama department artistic director Arthur Bartow, and Experimental Theatre Wing artistic director Kevin Kuhlke.

The Tisch School of the Arts comprises the Institute of the Performing Arts, the Kanbar Institute of Film and Television and the Jack H. Skirball Center for New Media and Film. Featuring one of the first university programs to offer master and Ph.D. degrees in the criticism, history and theory of film, the Tisch School offers challenging and innovative training to an estimated 3,000 students annually.

For information of the Tisch Award ceremony call (212) 221-8361. The May 4 award ceremony will take place at 721 Broadway.

Tickets for Bomb-itty are $42.50. Bomb-itty runs at the 45 Bleecker theatre, located at 45 Bleecker at the corner of Lafayette. For tickets call Ticketmaster (212) 307-4100.
