Denver Center for the Performing Arts and producer Stacey Mindich announced that the national tour of the Tony-nominated new Broadway musical Dear Evan Hansen will launch in Denver in October 2018. The musical will kick off DCPA’s 2018–19 Broadway season in The Buell Theatre; information regarding casting, on-sale dates, and tickets will be announced at a later time.

Additional cities for the national tour have not yet been announced.

Benj Pasek, Justin Paul, and Steven Levenson’s musical tells the story of a high school student—Evan Hansen—who becomes embroiled in a lie so big, it changes the course of his life and those around him. The show, which plays the Music Box Theatre on Broadway, was nominated for nine 2017 Tony Awards including Best Musical.

Following an acclaimed, sold-out run Off-Broadway, the Broadway transfer of Dear Evan Hansen began performances November 14, 2016, and officially opened December 4.

The original musical features a score by the Oscar-winning and Tony and Emmy-nominated songwriting team of Pasek and Paul (Dogfight, A Christmas Story), a book by Obie Award winner Levenson (Masters of Sex), choreography by Danny Mefford (Fun Home), and direction by multiple Tony nominee Michael Greif (Rent, Next to Normal, If/Then).
