As previously reported, the 25-week national tour, produced by Nederlander Presentations, Inc., will launch Oct. 2, 2012, at San Diego's Civic Theatre in San Diego, CA. The production will return to Broadway in April 2013 for a limited engagement, according to an Equity casting notice.

Rock of Ages Tony Award nominee Constantine Maroulis will star in the dual title role of Dr. Henry Jekyll and Edward Hyde. Tony nominee Jeff Calhoun, currently represented on Broadway with the Disney musical Newsies, will direct and choreograph.

A pre-tour preview engagement will also be presented at La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts in La Mirada, CA, Sept. 7-30, 2012.

Conceived for the stage by Tony and Grammy nominee Frank Wildhorn and Steve Cuden, the four-time Tony-nominated musical Jekyll & Hyde features a book and lyrics by two-time Oscar winner, Emmy winner and four-time Tony Award nominee Leslie Bricusse and music by Wildhorn.

Jekyll & Hyde is based on the novella "The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde" by Robert Louis Stevenson, about "a London doctor who accidentally unleashes his evil alternate personality in his quest to cure his father’s mental illness," according to press notes. Following a 30-city tour, the original Broadway production opened at The Plymouth Theatre April 28, 1997, and earned four Tony Award nominations. Directed by Robin Phillips and choreographed by Joey Pizzi, the production starred Robert Cuccioli, Linda Eder and Christianne Noll. After 1,543 performances and featuring such replacements as Sebastian Bach and David Hasselhoff in the title role, the production played its final performance  Jan. 7, 2001.

Born in 1973, Deborah Cox began her professional career at the age of 12, playing small Toronto clubs before attending a performing arts school. She later signed with Arista Records, and her first single, "Sentimental," was released in 1995. Her second single, "Who Do U Love?," sold over 500,000 copies. Cox's recording of "Nobody's Supposed to Be Here" from her album "One Wish" topped the R&B charts for 14 weeks. She also had another Top 10 hit with "We Can't Be Friends." She also held the No. 1 Billboard Dance position with her remake of Phil Collins' "Something Happened on the Way to Heaven." Aida marked Cox's Broadway debut.

"American Idol" finalist Maroulis earned a 2009 Best Actor Tony Award nomination for portraying Drew, an aspiring musician with pipes of steel in the Tony-nominated musical Rock of Ages. He originated the role in the Off-Broadway production at New World Stages in 2008. He has also appeared on Broadway in The Wedding Singer, Off-Broadway in Jacques Brel… and the national tour of Rent.

Additional cast and creative team, as well as tour cities, will be announced shortly.
