PlayBlog Defy Gravity in Song with NYC Gay Men's Chorus March 25 or 26 The New York City Gay Men's Chorus is offering a "Big Gay Idol" competition, which will give up to six finalists the chance to sing with the chorus and its band in the "Big Gay Sing 3D" concert at one of two performances, March 25 and 26 at 8 PM at the Skirball Center for the Performing Arts.

Contestants will be asked to audition by sending a YouTube video or mp3 file of themselves singing an a cappella rendition of "Defying Gravity" from the hit musical Wicked, along with a photo. PDFs of the sheet music in the male and female keys are available on the NYCGMC website. The videos and mp3s will appear on the chorus' YouTube channel. Entries must be submitted by midnight on March 20; finalists will be notified March 21.

Six finalists will be selected from the entries, with three set for the March 25 performance and three for March 26. Each final group will sing the song's opening in the first half of the concert; after an audience vote and the intermission, a winner will be selected to sing the song with the chorus and band in the concert's second half.
