Michael Grandage, who last helmed the Donmar production of Red on Broadway, directs the Shakespearean work about the epic King battling to maintain his throne and sanity. King Lear will officially open May 4 for a run through June 5.

In addition to Jacobi as King Lear, the cast includes Michael Hadley (Earl of Kent), Paul Jesson (Earl of Gloucester), Alec Newman (Edmund), Gina McKee (Goneril), Justine Mitchell (Regan), Pippa Bennett-Warner (Cordelia), Tom Beard (Duke of Albany), Gideon Turner (Duke of Cornwall), Stefano Braschi (Duke of Burgundy), Ashley Zhangazha (King of France), Gwilym Lee (Edgar), Amit Shah (Oswald), Ron Cook (The Fool), Harry Attwell (Gentleman) and Derek Hutchinson (Old Servant).

The play reunites the Tony Award-winning Red creative team, including Christopher Oram (set and costume design), Neil Austin (lighting design) and Adam Cork (sound design and original music).

King Lear played an eight-week engagement at the Donmar last December. It was also broadcast worldwide as part of National Theatre Live.
