The 6 PM evening will feature an interview with David Zippel, who has penned the lyrics for the new Andrew Lloyd Webber musical The Woman in White. DeRoy will chat with City of Angels' Zippel about his newest project; Zippel is also scheduled to offer three of his songs. The one-night-only event will also include performances of several of this year's MAC-nominated songs. Competitors for Outstanding Song of the Year include Tim DiPasqua ("You"), Maria Gentile and Caren Cole ("Kindness Makes Me Cry"), Andrew Lippa ("I'm Not Waiting"), Paul Rolnick and Paul Guzzone ("South of the Coconut Line") and Bonnie Lee Sanders, Ken Hatfield and Jules Ruggiero ("Positive Influences"). Nominees in the Special Musical Material category include Hector Coris and Paul L. Johnson ("In Heaven [They Sing Nothing But Showtunes]"), Rob Carlson and David Buskin ("Bumper Huntin'"), Rick Jensen ("I Got to Sing!"), Andrew Lippa and Tom Greenwald ("Cindy") and Mary Liz McNamara ("Bacon").
Jamie deRoy, a stand-up comic, singer and hostess, has been a longtime fixture on the New York cabaret scene. She is the winner of seven MAC Awards, nine Telly Awards and is an Emmy-nominated producer of Channel 13's "CityArts."
The Lighthouse is located in Manhattan at 111 East 59th Street. There is a $15 cover charge ($5 for MAC/ASCAP members). No reservations are required, and seating is on a first-come, first-served basis.
