John Miller-Stephany will direct Tennessee Williams' Pulitzer Prize-winning drama that is scheduled to run July 3-Aug. 21. An official opening has been set for July 9 on the Wurtele Thrust Stage. Chavira previously appeared in the Guthrie productions of The Long Walk and Jack and Jill. Complete casting for the Guthrie production, including the roles of Stella and Blanche, will be announced shortly.

"Like all of Williams' most compelling creations, Stanley Kowalski is a complex character – by turns brutal and vulnerable, magnetic and repulsive, calculating and passionate, perceptive and thick. It requires an actor with great depth to convincingly play such a demanding role," Guthrie director Joe Dowling said in a statement. "Ricardo has the necessary talent, charisma, training and heart to be a truly superb and personally distinctive Stanley. We're delighted to welcome him back to the Guthrie, particularly to play this challenging role."

The Guthrie is located at 818 South 2nd Street (at Chicago Avenue), in downtown Minneapolis. To purchase tickets or season subscriptions call (612) 377-2224 or visit GuthrieTheater.
