News Dessa Rose Actor Turns to Playwriting With Fringe's As Much as You Can Paul Oakley Stovall began 2005 as an actor in the Lincoln Center production of Dessa Rose, but he will spend his August as a playwright.

Stovall is the author of As Much as You Can, one of the many offerings at the New York International Fringe Festival, beginnning Aug. 12. The play, Stovall's first, tells "the story of an African-American Chicago family reunited in their childhood home to celebrate the wedding of their brother.  When Jesse, the prodigal son, arrives home with his long-term Swedish boyfriend Christian, he is forced to confront his siblings about his sexuality and his interracial relationship."

The cast includes Jeff Alba, J. Nicole Brooks, Kevin Douglas, Inda Craig-Galván, Will Owens and Angela Walsh . Krissy Vanderwarker directs.

Stovall's other acting work includes  The Notebooks of Leonardo da Vinci at Second Stage, Metamorphoses at Hartford Stage and Big River at Syracuse Stage.
