Classic Arts News Detroit Symphony to Unveil Bust of Neeme J‹rvi The Detroit Symphony will unveil a bust of former music director Neeme J‹rvi when he returns to conduct the DSO next week.
The bronze bust was created by sculptor Britt-Marie Jern. It will be displayed at the Paradise Caf_ at the Max M. Fisher Music Center alongside a rendering of Ossip Gabrilowitsch, the DSO's first music director.

The bust will be introduced at a ceremony on May 24 at 4 p.m. at the Paradise Caf_, with musicians, board members, J‹rvi, and J‹rvi's wife Liilia on hand. The event is open to the public.

J‹rvi is now the music director of the New Jersey Symphony as well as music director emeritus of the DSO. He leads the DSO in a program of Rossini, Prokofiev, and Bart‹k on May 25, 26, and 27.
