Classic Arts News Deutsche Grammophon Signs Teenage Violinist Ryu Goto Deutsche Grammophon/Universal has signed the violin prodigy Ryu Goto and will release his debut album in Japan later this year, the record company announced.
Goto, the younger brother of violinist Midori, was born in 1988. He took up the violin at the age of three and made his public debut at seven at the Pacific Music Festival. He has since performed with the Tokyo Metropolitan Orchestra, Bamberg Symphony, Philharmonia Orchestra, London Philharmonic, Dallas Symphony, and National Symphony.

Since 1996, Goto has been the subject of an ongoing documentary on Japanese television titled "Ryu Goto's Odyssey." The final part of the 10-part program will be broadcast this year.

Goto was born in New York City and studies at the Trinity School and the Juilliard School Pre-College Division.
