LOS ANGELES -- Opening April 17 at the Los Angeles Playhouse is Stephen Dietz' God's Country , a play based on the 1985 trial of the white supremacist group known as The Order. Formed by Robert Jay Mathews from members of the Aryan Nations Church, this criminal enterprise was best known for its assassination of radio talk-show host Alan Berg. Memmbers also carried out the most successful crime spree in U.S. history, robbing millions from banks and armored cars. Utilizing the testimony of Denver Parmenter, a high-ranking member of the Order turned state's witness, the drama delves into the history of the organization.

Martha Demson directs. God's Country plays through May 23 at the Los Angeles Playhouse, 1625 N. LaBrea Ave. in Hollywood. Performances are Fri. & Sat. at 8 PM; call (213) 882-6912.
