Production sources have announced that Roundabout Theatre Company associate artist Michael Mayer will return to direct his fourth play for the company, Chekhov's Uncle Vanya, next spring. As earlier reported, Tony Award-winning actor Derek Jacobi will star in the production, which will be the first show at the Roundabout's new home on 42nd Street at the site of the former Selwyn Theatre. Construction continues at this time.
Jacobi won a Tony for Much Ado About Nothing and has appeared on Broadway in Breaking The Code, Cyrano de Bergerac and The Suicide. His film credits include "Hamlet," "The Secret Garden," "Breaking the Code," "Dead Again" and "Henry V."
Mayer's previous three productions at RTC include the current Tony Award-winning production of Side Man, the Tony Award-winning revival of A View from the Bridge and The Lion in Winter, which was produced last season.
