News Directors Lined Up for Joseph Stein-Themed Musicals in Mufti Series at York Directors and music directors have been announced for the four musicals — all featuring a book by Joseph Stein — that will arrive this fall in the Musicals in Mufti series at the York Theatre Company.

The series, which presents "musical theatre gems in staged concert performances," will all perform at the Theatre at Saint Peters for five performances each.

The Stein season lines up as follows:

  • Zorba (Sept. 14-16)
    Director: Steven Yuhasz. Musical Director: Patrick Vaccariello.
    The musical, based on the novel by Nikos Kazantzakis, features a score by John Kander and the late Fred Ebb.
  • Enter Laughing (Sept. 28-30)
    Director: Stuart Ross. Music Director: Matt Castle.
    The musical (originally titled So Long, 174th Street) features a score by Stan Daniels.

  • The Body Beautiful (Oct. 12-14)
    Director: David Glenn Armstrong. Music Director: John Bell.
    Joseph Stein co-wrote the book with Will Glickman for the musical featuring a score by Sheldon Harnick (lyrics) and Jerry Bock (music).
  • The Baker's Wife (Oct. 26-28)
    Director: Gordon Greenberg. Music Director: Mark Hartman.
    The musical that spawned the cabaret favorite "Meadowlark" by Stephen Schwartz (score) will feature the most recent version of the show's script.
