News Dirty Dancing Announces U.K. National Tour Dirty Dancing, the stage version of the 1987 film that has been running at the West End's Aldwych Theatre since 2006, will hit the U.K. touring road.

The tour will begin performances at Bristol Hippodrome Sept. 1, 2011, running through Oct. 8, before going on to visit Glasgow (King's Theatre, Oct 19-Nov. 12), Manchester (Palace Theatre, Nov. 22-Jan. 7, 2012), Dublin (Grand Canal Theatre, Jan. 17, 2012-Feb. 25), Aberdeen (His Majesty's Theatre, March 6-31), Southampton (Mayflower Theatre, April 3-28) and Milton Keynes (Milton Keynes Theatre, May 1-26).

The West End edition, now in its fifth year at the Aldwych, will continue, and is currently booking through Oct. 29, 2011.

The show is set in the summer of 1963, and revolves around 17-year-old Frances "Baby" Houseman who is about to learn some major lessons in life as well as a thing or two about dancing. On holiday in New York's Catskill Mountains with her older sister and parents, "Baby" shows little interest in the resort activities, and instead discovers her own entertainment when she stumbles upon the staff quarters when an all-night dance party is in full swing. Mesmerised by the raunchy dances move and the pounding rhythms, "Baby" can't wait to be part of the scene, especially when she catches sight of Johnny Castle the resort dance instructor. "Baby"'s' life is about to change forever as she is thrown in at the deep end as Johnny's leading lady both on-stage and off.

No casting details are yet available for the tour.
