News Dirty Rotten Box Office Opens Dec. 27 Step right up and get taken! That's the pitch from the producers of Dirty Rottten Scoundrels, who open the Imperial Theatre box office Dec. 27 for walk-up sales to the new musical comedy.

In the case of the show from the creators of The Full Monty, "getting taken" means taken to a colorful world where charming hustlers in the French Riviera compete to scam women out of their dough. John Lithgow and Norbert Leo Butz play the title characters, inspired by roles first seen in the film comedy of the same name (and an earlier picture called "Bedtime Story").

Performances begin Jan. 31, 2005, toward an opening night of March. 3.

Phone sales for the Broadway run of Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, the new musical, began Nov. 14. For Telecharge.com orders, call (212) 239-6200.

The Imperial (recent home of The Boy From Oz and Les Miserables) is at 249 W. 45th Street.

* Jack O'Brien (The Full Monty, Hairspray) directs the musical, collaborating with composer-lyricist David Yazbek (The Full Monty), librettist Jeffrey Lane and choreographer Jerry Mitchell (The Full Monty, Hairspray, La Cage aux Folles).

Dirty Rotten Scoundrels is the second Broadway show this season set in the French Riviera. La Cage dances there as well.

The Dirty Rotten company includes Sherie Rene Scott, Joanna Gleason and Gregory Jbara.

The musical was recently tested in a tryout (to Nov. 7) at The Old Globe in San Diego. O'Brien (Henry IV, The Invention of Love) is artistic director there.

Broadway ticket prices range $41.25-$101.25.
