News Dirty Rotten Tour Now Has Summer 2006 Plans The 2006-07 national tour of Dirty Rotten Scoundrels will be launched two months earlier than previously announced, producer Marty Bell confirmed Sept. 6.

To accommodate the busy schedules of director Jack O'Brien and choreographer Jerry Mitchell, the tour will start in July 2006 in a city to be named, rather than in September 2006. In 2006-07, O'Brien has Lincoln Center Theater's production of Tom Stoppard's The Coast of Utopia in his sights, and Mitchell will direct and choreograph Legally Blonde, a new musical.

Bell said there a couple of cities to choose from for the launch and the 2006-07 route is being mapped out. No cast has been announced for the tour of the musical comedy.

John Lithgow and Tony Award-winner Norbert Leo Butz continue as the title characters on Broadway, with Sherie Rene Scott their quarry. Performances continue at the Imperial Theatre.

A cast album was released commercially May 10 on the Ghostlight Records label.

The 2005 Tony nominations for Dirty Rotten Scoundrels included Best Musical, Best Leading Actor (Musical) for both Norbert Leo Butz (who won) and John Lithgow, Best Leading Actress (Musical) for Sherie Rene Scott, Best Featured Actress (Musical) for Joanna Gleason, Best Score (for composer-lyricist David Yazbek), Best Book of a Musical (Jeffrey Lane), Best Lighting Design (Kenneth Posner), Best Orchestrations (Harold Wheeler).
