UPDATE: OFF-B'WAY
Disappearing Act, a musical revue celebrating urban gay life, will begin performances Aug. 26 at the 47th Street Theatre. After playing to rave reviews in San Diego and Boston, this collection of diverse, contemporary vignettes will test its appeal on New York audiences.
The numbers include an homage to 1970's disco culture, an elegy for friends lost to AIDS, and a musical parody in which one actor portrays, in succession, all the characters in Mart Crowley's The Boys in the Band.
The composer, Michael Oster, is probably best known as co-author of Sheboppin', a musical produced at Boston's Wilbur Theatre.
The 47th Street Theatre is at 304 West 47th Street. Reservations may be made by calling (212) 239-6200. _______________________________________________
