Disney is looking into a stage version of the film, "Dead Poets Society," though audiences should not expect to see it anytime soon. "'Dead Poets Society' is a project we considered at one point, but we are not currently developing it," said Thomas Schumacher, co-president of Disney Theatricals. In an April 22 report in Variety, Schumacher said the show would probably appear in the form of a play with "a song or two."
"Dead Poets Society" starred Robin Williams as John Keating, an English Literature teacher who inspires his college students to live more adventurous, artistic lives. Among the young actors playing Keating's followers were Ethan Hawke and Robert Sean Leonard. Peter Weir directed.
