Lopez is the Tony Award-winning co-songwriter of The Book of Mormon and Avenue Q. Anderson-Lopez, his wife, is an actress and songwriter who was part of the writing team of the Off-Broadway a cappella musical In Transit. They are working together on a new stage musical called Up Here.

Variety reported that Matthew Fogel is the screenwriter of the movie musical about an average guy named Bob who only hears the world as a musical (a conk on the head is the reported cause of the melody — or malady).

Phil Lord and Chris Miller (co-writers and co-directors of the animated "Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs") are the reported directors.
