News Disparate Drivers Cross U.S. by Night in Premiere of Highwayscape July 20-Sept. 3 The Theatre @ Boston Court will present the world premiere of Carlos Murillo's Unfinished American Highwayscape #9 & 32, directed by Jessica Kubzansky, starting July 20 on the Main Stage at Boston Court in Pasadena, CA.

"In Unfinished American Highwayscape #9 & 32, eight lone drivers cross the country on an epic journey through the American night," according to the troupe. "A poetic odyssey, the play probes the secret thoughts of troubled souls alone in the dark. Deep mysteries, poignant connections, and dangerous dislocations drive this powerful script by one of the country's most exciting new playwrights."

The ensemble cast includes Carlease Burke, Will Collyer, Matt Foyer, Casey Kramer, Ashley West Leonard, Meghan Maureen McDonough, Patrick Thomas O'Brien and Karim Prince.

The design team includes Sibyl Wickersheimer (scenic), Jeremy Pivnick (lighting), Ann Closs-Farley (costume), John Zalewski (sound), Victoria Robinson (props) and Michael Donovan, CSA (casting).

Murillo is a prolific Chicago-based playwright, director and a visiting professor at the Theatre School of DePaul University. His work has been produced and developed at venues around the country, including the current production, which received a staged reading last year as part of The Theatre @ Boston Court's "Four Play" reading series. Produced plays include Schadenfreude, A Human Interest Story (or The Gory Details and All) and most recently, his play Mimesophobia (or Before and After) was produced at the 2005 NYC Summer Play Festival. He is a two time recipient of a Rockefeller Foundation MAP Fund Grant, a Jerome Fellowship from the Playwrights Center in Minneapolis, and was the recipient of the 1996 National Latino Playwriting Award.

Jessica Kubzansky, the award-winning director and co-artistic director for The Theatre @ Boston Court, has worked at South Coast Rep, Geffen Playhouse, Portland Center Stage, Mark Taper New Works, Aurora Stage, Boston Publick and London's Old Red Lion. Recent world premieres she has directed include Jean-Claude van Itallie's Light, Cody Henderson's Cold/Tender, Tom Jacobson's Orange Grove, Bryan Davidson's War Music, Sheila Callaghan's Kate Crackernuts and Salamone/McIntyre's Moscow, as well as workshops of Tory Stewart's Leitmotif and Julia Cho's BFE. She received the 2004 LA Drama Critics Circle Award for Sustained Excellence in Theatre. The Theatre @ Boston Court is the non-profit company that programs for the Main Stage in the performing arts complex in Pasadena.

Unfinished American Highwayscape #9 & 32 is the third play in the award-winning company's third season. It will preview for six performances beginning July 20, open July 29 and run Thursdays to Saturdays at 8 PM and Sundays at 3 PM through Sept. 3.
