Bernadette Peters will be one busy diva in the next few weeks. The newlywed will be promoting her first album in over a decade. Entitled I'll Be Your Baby Tonight, the album is an eclectic mix of songs with works by composers as disparate as Stephen Sondheim and Lyle Lovett.

Bernadette will make a few television appearances to promote the album including two filmed in the New York area:
On Monday, August 26 Peters will appear on "Live with Regis and Kathie Lee," which airs at 9 AM (ET) on ABC. Then on Thursday, Sept. 12 Peters will make an appearance on "The Rosie O'Donnell Show," which broadcasts at 10 AM (ET), also on ABC. Check local listings for times elsewhere.

I will be speaking with BP next week for a Q & A for Playbill On-line. I will try to ask her a few of your questions, so if there's anything you'd like me to ask, please e-mail me at [email protected].

Peters' press agent spoke a little about Bernadette's wedding a few weeks ago, which took place at the home of Mary Tyler Moore. Her press rep was one of Peters' bridesmaids along with Moore. It was supposed to rain, but she said the weather was beautiful, and it was a wonderful day in general.

BP also has a host of concert appearances lined up:

  • Hollywood Bowl, Sept. 6 and 7
  • Louisville, KY, Oct. 12
  • Dallas, Nov. 22-24
  • Baltimore, Nov. 29-Dec. 1
A special highlight for those who live in the Los Angeles area: Peters' concert at the Hollywood Bowl will be televised locally on KCOP.

DIVA TALK will be moving to the Theatre Features section of Playbill On-Line starting in September. All the components will remain the same. Look for me there.

That's all for now. Happy diva-watching!
