News Dixon Place Stops Getting HOT! July 31, But Keeps It Real Through Aug. 11 Though Dixon Place's HOT! Celebration of Queer Culture is set to close July 31 with Festival Party featuring performances by Reno and others, its headliner Go-Go Real will continue to run through Aug. 11. The downtown annual festival of lesbian and gay theatre, music, dance, poetry, fiction, and performance art began its run in downtown Manhattan July 5.

Though Dixon Place's HOT! Celebration of Queer Culture is set to close July 31 with Festival Party featuring performances by Reno and others, its headliner Go-Go Real will continue to run through Aug. 11. The downtown annual festival of lesbian and gay theatre, music, dance, poetry, fiction, and performance art began its run in downtown Manhattan July 5.

This year, HOT! and Dixon Place founder Ellie Covan celebrate the 10th anniversary of the festival with dozens of gay performers.

This year's participants included:

Go-Go Real - Jonathan Wooster and Brandon Olson explore sex, love drugs, and disco-dancing with theatre, music, dance and humor

Homotext - new lesbian and gay literature as read by Gerry Gomez and Paul Russell Lavinia Co-Op, Gender-Illusionist Dred and Diane Torr - each present their own work which ranges from musical numbers to monologues

Dark Thoughts - sketches, monologues and spoken word by Asian artists Aileen Cho, Regie Cabico and Dan Bacalzo

Everyday Tragedies - a puppet play is performed by Moe Angelos and Big Bang Theory and Dating is presented by Emmett Foster

Writers on the Ledge - is curated by Regie Cabico with new works by Susan Sherman and Rachel Guido DeVries

Suck This, Masked Man! - Peter McLean collaborates with author Perry Brass' and I Look Divine - Randy Gener directs Stephen Nisbet in an adaptation of Christopher Coe's gay classic

In the Ass of the Beast - Beth Lorrigan and Lisa Frisari use film and live sound to create a work that tests boundaries

Homo for the Holidays - John Steber directs a staged reading of short plays by Robert Shaffron

Culture Bodega - Jill Dearman, Clarinda Maclow, Hope Forstenzer and James Cassesse's new fiction with music by Jan Bell

Numb a new work by and performed by Robert Appleton, I'll Show You Mine, If You Show Me Yours a show-and-tell audience participation piece by Michael Burke, and Michael Freeman plays a tragicomic clown

"In the City of Shy Hunters" - a reading from Tom Spanbauer's new novel followed by a book-signing

Crazy Maker by Mina Hartong, Unlimited Engagement performed by Brennan Gerard and Heather McGhee

You Are Gorgeous and I Am Coming - a reading saluting the works of Frank O'Hara with Peter Covino, Bill Kushner, Matthew Burgess, Ron Drummond, Douglas Martin, Guillermo Castro, Richard Loranger, Brian Blanchfield, Richard Tayson, Michael Broder and Jason Schneiderman

"Dhalgren" - a reading from Samuel R. Delany's new book, "Wendell All Together" - reading from Howard Cruse's new book

HOT! Dance - movement pieces by Jen Abrams, Marlon Barrios Solana and Tamieca McCloud

A.D.D. Theatre, 20 90-Second Plays - performed by Tom Bondi and Rick Beach, Soppin' Juice by Mark Holt and Belly Up by Bondi and Holt as performed by Lisa Kron and Emmett Foster
