Steven Pasquale (Broadway's Reasons to be Pretty, Off-Broadway's A Man of No Importance, Intelligent Homosexual's Guide…, TV's "Rescue Me") stars. The pilot includes theatre people including Tony winner Phylicia Rashad, Michael Esper (of Broadway's current The Lyons and Mayer's American Idiot), John Carroll Lynch, Toni Trucks and Jason Tam, plus Elana De La Garza, Ruta Gedmintas and Samm Levine.
The series will shoot in Philadelphia. NBC will officially announce details in the coming days.
Schulner's plays include An Infinite Ache and Forgiveness, among others.
Mayer was a consulting producer on the first season of "Smash." His next New York City theatre assignment is a staging of Verdi's Rigoletto for the Metropolitan Opera. It begins in January 2013. He's also working on the film version of American Idiot.
