News Don Amendolia to Direct Kate Dawson in Birdland Debut Kate Dawson, who spent three seasons in the Madison Square Garden production of A Christmas Carol and also starred opposite Lucie Arnaz as Eileen in Wonderful Town in Los Angeles, will make her Birdland debut Aug. 30.

Dawson's one-woman show is titled The A**hole in My Head, which is described as "a comedic musical exploration of that annoying, doubtful inner voice most of us deal with on a daily basis." Lauren Cohn will play the title role of the inner voice. Show time is 7 PM. Dawson penned the show, which will be directed by veteran actor Don Amendolia with musical direction by Doug Oberhamer. Expect songs from City of Angels, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, The Light in the Piazza, Thoroughly Modern Millie and Wicked.

The performance, according to press notes, is "Kate Dawson's fresh and funny reinvention of cabaret, as she transforms her worst enemy (herself) into a hilarious, unseen other character. In the show, Kate and the 'A**hole In Her Head' battle it out through song and banter in a highly entertaining show filled with Broadway songs and witty dialogue."

Birdland Jazz Club is located at 315 West 44th Street. Tickets are $25 (plus a $10 food/drink minimum) and can be reserved online at www.BirdlandJazz.com or by phone at (212) 581-3080.
