News Donna McKechnie Dances Into NY's First Night, Dec. 31 Though it's actually the last night of 1997, they're calling it "First Night," and it's a special festival with all kinds of events across New York on New Year's Eve. Pony rides, admission to the Empire State Building observatory and dance lessons are all part of the mix.

Though it's actually the last night of 1997, they're calling it "First Night," and it's a special festival with all kinds of events across New York on New Year's Eve. Pony rides, admission to the Empire State Building observatory and dance lessons are all part of the mix. Theatre lovers will be especially interested in a Festival of International Dance at the Met Life Building, beginning at 5 PM. Taking part will be Donna McKechnie, a Tony winner for A Chorus Line and star of Off Broadway's Annie Warbucks. NYC ballet soloists will also be on hand.

First Night NY begins at noon, Dec. 31, and runs to 11 PM. For information call (212) 922-9393.
