"When the kingdom’s most wanted—and most charming—bandit Flynn Rider hides out in a mysterious tower, he’s taken hostage by Rapunzel, a beautiful and feisty tower-bound teen with 70 feet of magical, golden hair," according to film notes. "Flynn’s curious captor, who’s looking for her ticket out of the tower where she’s been locked away for years, strikes a deal with the handsome thief and the unlikely duo sets off on an action-packed escapade, complete with a super-cop horse, an over-protective chameleon and a gruff gang of pub thugs."
Set for a late November release, the movie boasts the voice talents of Mandy Moore as Rapunzel, Zachary Levi as Flynn and two-time Tony Award winner Donna Murphy as Madame Gothel, the villainess who keeps Rapunzel locked away. Ewan McGregor and Steve Martin are also attached to the project.
The film features songs by composer Alan Menken and lyricist Glenn Slater. Menken (Little Shop of Horrors, A Christmas Carol) has a long history with Disney, including the stage and screen versions of Beauty and the Beast and The Little Mermaid. Slater (newyorkers) has collaborated with Menken on The Little Mermaid and Sister Act.
