Emmy Award-winner Dorothy Lyman will star in the world premiere of My Kitchen Wars, running Jan. 27, at the 2nd Stage Theatre in Hollywood, through Feb. 18. Evelyn Purcell directs the multimedia piece, which features live performances of late-20th-century pop music.My Kitchen Wars is based on the book of the same name by Betty Fussell. It chronicles Fussell's growing sense of self as she struggles to maintain her marriage to the acclaimed historian Paul Fussell. The issues raised are marriage, infidelity, cooking and female emancipation. Fussell has published nine books ranging from food history and cook books to biography. She won the prestigious Julia Child Cookbook Award for "The Story of Corn." Fussell tapped Lyman to help develop and perform the stage version of My Kitchen Wars.
