The Associated Press reports that the singer will belt out the National Anthem at the football game, which is being held in Tampa, FL, Feb. 1. The afternoon event will mark Hudson's first public performance since her mother, brother and nephew were killed in October 2008.

NBC will air the Super Bowl live.

Jennifer Hudson earned several trophies — including the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress, the Golden Globe Award and the Screen Actors Guild Award — for playing the role of Effie in the Bill Condon-directed "Dreamgirls," her film debut. Hudson, who was seen in the Actors Fund benefit concert of The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas, had a featured role in last summer's "Sex and the City" feature film.
