News Dreyfus in Rehearsal To Kick Off Year-Long Celebration of Garson Kanin A year-long celebration of the late playwright and director Garson Kanin will kick off with the first performance of Dreyfus in Rehearsal July 30 at Off-Broadway's Beckett Theatre.

Directed by Chad Larabee, the production will play the West 42nd Street venue through Aug. 7. The cast comprises Emmy nominee Paul Anthony Stewart (Morris), Lori Wilner (Zina), Bob Ari (Arnold), Ari Butler (Michael), Holly Ann Butler (Myriam), Lee Zarrett (Mendl), Daniel Pollack (Zalman), Teddy Bergman (Dr. Wasselbaum/ Bronislaw) and Timothy Sekk (Yanek).

Written by Jean-Claude Grumberg and adapted by Kanin, Dreyfus in Rehearsal, press notes state, "follows a group of young amateur actors rehearsing a play about Alfred Dreyfus, a French Military Officer who suffered the injustice of religious persecution, written by their ambitious young director. The troupe, struggling to find the relevance of this story to their own lives, are more concerned with their personal dramas, which frustrates their high-strung director. Their placid existence is about to be shaken as anti-Semitism grows in this wryly funny and touching story about finding one’s place in a fast-changing world."

The production will feature set design by Ken Goldstein, costume design by David Zyla, lighting design by Cory Pattak with original music by Matt Gould and fight direction by Joe Travers. Iris D. O'Brien is the production stage manager.

Producers are Philip Morgaman, Emily Miller and Frankie Grande.

The Beckett Theatre is located in Manhattan at 410 West 42nd Street. For tickets visit www.ticketcentral.com. *

The year-long tribute to Kanin will also include readings of Kanin's The Rat Race and Peccadillo.
