News Dublin Fringe Hit Waiting for Ikea Is New York Bound; Yiddish Godot Will Return Dylan Coburn Gray's Boys and Girls and a production of Samuel Beckett's Waiting for Godot in Yiddish will be featured in the seventh annual Origin's 1st Irish Festival.

The festival, which is curated and coordinated by the New York-based Origin Theatre Company, runs Sept. 3-28 and will present four U.S. premieres and seven world premieres. The only theatre festival dedicated to Irish playwrights, it concludes Sept. 29 with an awards ceremony.

The American productions include the Dublin Fringe Festival hit, Georgina McKevitt and Jacinta Sheerin's Waiting for IKEA, a comedy about female culture in Dublin. McKevitt will co-star with Laoisa Sexton, and Alan King will direct the production that runs Sept. 17-28 at the Times Square Arts Center. Seamus Scanlon's The McGowan Trilogy, the story of Irish revolutionary Victor McGowan and his struggle to balance his personal life and his pursuit for justice, will be directed by Kira Simring. It will run Sept. 11-Oct. 5 at The Cell.

Samuel Beckett's Waiting for Godot will be performed in Yiddish, presented by New York's New Yiddish Rep. Directed by Moshe Yassur, with an authorized translation by Shane Baker, Waiting for Godot will run Sept. 4-21 at the Barrow Street Theatre. A new production, which will be announced at a later date, will be presented Sept. 24-Nov. 16 by the Irish Repertory Theatre

Murmur Productions will present the U.S. premiere of Boys and Girls. In pyrotechnic verse, Dylan Coburn Gray's play paints the Dublin nightscape, telling the stories of four characters in a single night. The production will run Sept. 3-28 at 59E59 Theaters. The U.S. premiere of Man in the Moon will be presented Sept. 10-28 at Times Square Arts Center. Pearse Elliott's look at the teen suicide problem in Ireland will star Ciaran Nolan, directed by Tony Devlin.

The Next Generation Series will include the world premiere of Docks, Jocks and Socks, directed by Laurence Lowry, and featuring Anto Nolan, Sept. 10-13 at the Times Square Arts Center. Origin Theatre Co. and The Attic (Dublin) will present the world premiere of five short plays by five young Irish playwrights, each of whom was given the assignment to write a play on a common topic in three days. Henning Hegland will direct the plays, which run Sept. 22-23 at The Times Square Arts Center. Origin's 1st Irish will take place in a number of New York venues; the Mainstage shows will be presented at the Barrow Street Theatre, 59E59 Theaters, The Irish Rep at DR2 Theatre, The Cell and the Times Square Arts Center.
