This is the Spiegeltent, a transportable venue of canvas, cut glass, teak, mirrors, billowing velvet and brocade which has criss-crossed Europe and other corners of the world for decades, bringing with it a variety of live entertainment. The Spiegeltent has been brought to New York by Ross Mollison and P.S. 122 artistic director Vallejo Gantner. A beer garden will grow next to it, offering an array of handcrafted beers from New York City’s Heartland Brewery, as well as a variety of food choices.

Among the theatre-oriented attractions are: Reverend Billy and the Church of Stop-Shopping; Duncan Shiek, the composer of Off-Broadway's Spring Awakening, appearing with singer-songwriter Vienna Teng; performance artists Diamanda Galás; and drag performer Lypsinka performing The Passion of the Crawford.

According to press materials: "The Spiegeltent pavilions were used as traveling dance halls and wine tasting marquees since the early 20th century. The intricate, historic design consists of woven balloon canopies, a circular teak dance floor, stained cut glass windows, intimate booths, an ornate bar, beveled mirror columns and a magnificent Art Nouveau chandelier at its breathtaking center. There are only a handful of these and legendary `tents of mirrors' left in the world. An awesome sight of wood, mirrors, canvas, leaded glass and velvet and brocade details, each has its own personality and style offering a unique entertainment experience for audiences."

The venue capacity of the Spiegeltent is 400 standing, 320 seated, and 300 with full table and chair cabaret seating.

Additional ticket information is available through Ticket Central, (212) 279-4200, daily from 12 noon to 8 PM, or on line via www.spiegelworld.com.
