Long will succeed Hamish Linklater in the role of Martin, a young writer of questionable educational pedigree attending a writing class run by a waspish editor, Leonard, to be played by the previously announced Jeff Goldblum, who also begins April 3 at the Golden Theatre. Alan Rickman (the original Leonard) and Linklater both exit April 1.

Long and Goldblum (Broadway's The Pillowman, Hollywood's "Jurassic Park," TV's "Law & Order: Criminal Intent") will play eight weeks only. Additional new casting will be announced.

In Seminar, "four aspiring young novelists (Lily Rabe, Linklater, Jerry O'Connell and Hettienne Park) sign up for private writing classes with Leonard, an international literary figure. Under his recklessly brilliant and unorthodox instruction, some thrive and others flounder, alliances are made and broken, sex is used as a weapon and hearts are unmoored. The wordplay is not the only thing that turns vicious as innocence collides with experience in this provocative new comedy."

Pulitzer Prize finalist and Peabody Award winner Theresa Rebeck wrote the plays Mauritius, The Scene, The Understudy and Omnium Gatherum (among many others), was an "NYPD Blue" writer and created the NBC series "Smash."

Seminar is directed by Obie Award winner Sam Gold (Circle Mirror Transformation, The Aliens, Kin, the current Look Back in Anger and The Big Meal). It opened Nov. 20, 2011.
