Off-Broadway News Eddie Izzard's Solo Hamlet Announces 2nd Extension, Transfer to Orpheum Theatre

Selena Cadell directs Mark Izzard's adaptation of the Shakespeare classic.

The Off-Broadway solo version of William Shakespeare's Hamlet, starring Eddie Izzard, has announced a four-week extension and a theatre transfer. Currently playing the Greenwich House Theater through March 16, the production will transfer to the Orpheum Theatre, where performances will be held March 19-April 14. 

Izzard, who triumphed last season with a solo version of Charles Dickens’ Great Expectations, returned to the New York stage January 25 to play 23 characters in Hamlet. The show's current home, Greenwich House Theater, will next welcome a run of S. Asher Gelman's Scarlett Dreams.

The solo Hamlet opened February 11. Selena Cadell is at the helm. Mark Izzard penned the adaptation of the Shakespeare classic. The two also worked with Eddie Izzard on Great Expectations. Read the reviews here.

The production also has set design by Tom Piper, lighting by Tyler Elich, costume styling by Tom Piper and Libby DaCosta, and movement direction by Didi Hopkins.

A Tony nominee for her performance in A Day in the Death of Joe Egg, Izzard was also seen on Broadway in Race. Her London stage credits include The Cryptogram, Edward II, 900 Oneonta, Joe Egg, and Charles Dickens’ Great Expectations.

Hamlet is produced by WestBeth Entertainment, Mick Perrin Worldwide, and John Gore.
