News Eisa Davis' Flowers Are Sleeping, with Davis, Nicole Lewis, Dashiell Eaves, Darius de Haas, Debuts April 25 Actress and playwright Eisa Davis' new music-theatre work, Flowers Are Sleeping, which was commissioned by Symphony Space, debuts at that Manhattan venue April 25.

Performances continue through April 27. Show time each night is 7:30 PM.

The cast includes Davis, Nicole Lewis, Dashiell Eaves and Darius de Haas with Davis also on piano, Jon Spurney on guitar, Nicholas Rolfe on keyboards, Mark Vanderpoel on bass and Sydney Lamont Driver on drums.

Flowers Are Sleeping features book, music and lyrics by Davis; Liesl Tommy directs. The R&B-pop-music theatre work is described as a "fantasy about the contemporary art world inspired by the artistic and intellectual leaders who peopled the heyday of the Harlem Renaissance." 

Davis, who was seen on Broadway in Passing Strange, was featured in the West Coast run of Melissa James Gibson’s This. As a playwright, she was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize in Drama for Bulrusher. She wrote and starred in Angela's Mixtape, and her other plays include Ramp, The History of Light, Paper Armor, Umkovu, Six Minutes, Warriors Don't Cry and the collaborations Active Ingredients and Hip Hop Anansi.
