Off-Broadway News El Otro Oz Begins Performances January 13 at Atlantic for Kids

The bi-lingual musical from Mando Alvarado, Tommy Newman, and Jaime Lozano is inspired by The Wizard of Oz.

The new bilingual musical El Otro Oz, inspired by The Wizard of Oz, premieres at Atlantic for Kids January 13. Originally commissioned, developed, and produced by TheaterWorksUSA, El Otro Oz will run at Atlantic Stage 2 through February 18.

The Mexican folk-infused musical features a book by Mando Alvarado and Tommy Newman and music and lyrics by Jaime Lozano and Newman. Melissa Crespo is directing, with choreography by Alessandra Valea.

As her 15th birthday approaches, Dora, a contemporary Latiné teenager, dreads her impending quinceañera. But, when she gets swept away to a strange new land, she learns to embrace her cultural identity.

The cast includes Arielle Gonzalez, Eli Gonzalez, Christian Adriana Johannsen, Adriel Jovian, Danny Lemache, and Nya Noemi.
