Playwright, comedienne and screenwriter, Elaine (Power Plays) May will make her debut as a Broadway playwright when her latest, Taller Than a Dwarf, hits Broadway in spring 2000. While a specific theatre, stars and dates are to be announced, producer Julian Schlossberg told PBOL (July 13) that May's Power Plays co hort, Alan Arkin, will direct the comedy, with Tony Walton designing sets.
According to Schlossberg, Taller Than a Dwarf is "an average couple during the millennium learning the new rules of the American dream."
Arkin is best known for his film work (Catch 22, Simon) but his theatre credits include directing The Soft Touch in Boston in 1975 and Jules Feiffer's The White House Murder Case Off Broadway in 1970, as well as the original Sunshine Boys and Little Murders. May's plays include Adaptation, Not Enough Rope and Mr. Gogol And Mr. Preen.
